On a daily basis, we buy and use various products. But have you ever thought where, by whom, and under what conditions they were produced? Have you ever wondered if your choice is fair with those who produced that product? And how your choice affected the environment? This video about Fair Trade was produced as part of the Young Reporters for the Environment competition 2019 being produced by Marie Therese Pavia and Aidan Gauci (University of Malta, Ġ.F Abela Junior College). It investigates the issue of Fair Trade in Malta so as to raise awareness and knowledge about this subject.

GCSS Ekoskola students prepared a short video to raise awareness about the harmful practice of double-bagging grocery items. Our students carried out research online about the dangers that single-use plastics pose to our environment and to our planet. After they went to a local greengrocer armed with their mobile phones and asked for some items at the deli counter, educating the server in the process about the wastefulness fo double-bagging shop items. This video was then edited using Movie Maker 10.

A group of 4 students investigated the school yard bins and depicted what they found with a graph. They also came up with solutions and discussed them with the Head of School – Ms.Caroline Anastasi. The students created a cartoon video clip which was shared with all the school on the 29th March during Class teacher time. In the video clip there was indicated all the bins in our school and how these should be used.

This is our school’s video (Our Lady Immaculate School Hamrun) to raise awareness on plastic pollution. This video forms part of our Litterless Campaign. The video is part of a large campaign that our students embarked to educate students and the wider community on the importance of reducing plastic use. The idea of this video is to show that now the problem is real and that we cannot just talk about the problem but we must act.
