The construction industry in Malta is in high demand. This results in a substantial amount of construction and demolition waste being generated. Presently, this waste is being dumped into unused quarries. Given that the Globigerina limestone is a limited resource and that the building industry accounts for the island’s biggest generation of waste, something must be done to protect the environment.
