Stop single-use plastic. Buy fresh and local! Even though some packaging is necessary, a lot of products have excess packaging, which can mean that the product costs more! Packaging is often also sent to the landfill, as it can be difficult to recycle.

Do we need plastic?? About 100 years ago, single-use products were invented, leading to the plastic packaging boom. Food packaging is full of toxic chemicals! It might actually introduce chemicals that could infiltrate your food.

When you buy local and seasonal food, you will be supporting sustainable agriculture, supporting local business and producing less waste. Materials like plastic are only used for a matter of minutes but remain with us for centuries.

The rubbish skip is overflowing with trash. The waste is not separated and both the grey and the black garbage bags are thrown in the rubbish skip mixed together. This shows that waste is not discarded responsibly. Waste can be carried by wind or by animals, littering other spaces, leaving adverse impacts on the ecosystem and natural habitat of animals living in the surroundings. It is also a nuisance to the public eye.

It is better to buy fruits with no packaging because plastic is not good for the environment. When you are on the beach, throw plastic in the right bin because if you leave it there, it will eventually go to the sea and then many creatures will become extinct because of us humans.

More than any other time of the year, Christmas is when excess packaging gets noticed – and the problem seems to be getting worse. Food packaging is getting out of control. Waste in the name of the consumer. Most plastic products become waste in the same year in which they were produced.

Do we really need so much additional and unnecessary packaging, which serves no purpose? It is not there for protection or to extend the life of the item. Packaging of sweets can often be excessive, especially during Christmas.

The photo depicts a wall full of scribbling, which is, unfortunately, a common sight. It is a pity that we sometimes hear of historical monuments and relics that have been vandalised in this way. The damage done is permanent and cannot be erased. We must not ruin or harm our environment but we must all strive to make it more beautiful!
