Statistics show that by 2050 there will be more plastic in the sea than fish. The reality is that we are already drowning in rubbish and if we don’t do something, the situation can and will get much worse. We won’t even be able to have a relaxing day at the beach without seeing all kinds of litter such as plastic bags, cigarette butts, takeaway boxes and microplastic. So next time you’re going for a swim, do your part to help the planet.
Why?

These are some micro-plastics found on the beach. Many scientists are saying that by 2050 there will be more plastic in the sea than fish, and that is unfortunatley true. Due to the food chain, these micro-plastics are also finding ways into our bodies. The fish eat the plastic and we eat the fish. We need to take action immediately! A simple way of avoiding this is by recycling and using reusable items instead of straws, plastic bags and so many more. Always remember: Reduce, Reuse and Recycle!

The senseless destruction of the environment in the name of development is a growing problem which needs to be addressed before it’s too late. Hundreds of trees all over Malta are being uprooted so the need to take action now is felt stronger than ever. You are urged to join in participating in direct actions aimed at finally stopping trees from being cut down.

Various bits and pieces of plastic are ‘lost’ in the sand, and eventually find their way in the sea. Pick at least 5 pieces of rubbish every time you go to the beach, and don’t forget to pick your own!

PVR stands for plastic vs reusables. The reusable cup has a living plant in it whilst the reusable straw has light on it showing that this is the cup and the straw that need to be used. 16 billion disposable coffee cups are used every year. These are coated with plastic to laminate the inside and they have plastic lids which just adds insult to injury!

This picture shows a piece of land which is full of beautiful life, full of natural beauty whereas plastic is unnatural, made by humans and yet, according to the CRI, Container Recycling Institute, 22 billion plastic bottles are thrown away every year. The bottle on the right has soil inside and so this bottle has trapped a chance at an amazing flower, tree or plant. That is what plastic does, it stops all life from growing. Plastic bottles are reusable too, but some people just decide to throw them on the floor. People are the ones to blame, not plastic as plastic is recyclable.

Why do you throw away your garbage in the streets? Litter from land can easily end up in the sea if blow away by the wind or carried along by the rain.

Bejn l-Imnajdra u Ħaġar Qim hemm passaġġ iffrekwentat minn Maltin u turisti. Dan il-passaġġ huwa xi ftit perikoluż minħabba li qiegħed f’ livell aktar għoli mil-bqija tal-art tal-madwar, għalhekk huwa faċli li t- tfal jaqgħu fil-ġenb tiegħu kif wieħed jista’ jara fir-ritratt. Nissuġġerixxi li l-ġnub jimtlew bil-ħamrija biex jieħu l-istess livell u fl-istess ħin jistgħu jitħawwlu xi pjanti, b’ hekk ikunu qed isebbħu l-ambjent.
