Jerma Palace Hotel, located built in 1982, was once a beautiful destination in the south of Malta for both tourists and locals. Now, an eyesore for society, it is being used for vandalism, litter and drug use. Jerma Palace Hotel is also affecting the natural beauty of the area and the historical heritage of St Thomas Tower.

The built environment is rapidly increasing in Malta, however creativity can also be intertwined amidst all this construction. Amongst the high rise buildings one finds these colourful balconies which, at least, make the building less of an eye sore.

Don’t throw trash in the sea because it can harm animals. Don’t throw plastic in the sea because it can kill turtles. Put your stuff in the bin not in the sea because it can make the sea very dirty and can make loads of damage. We have to take care of our planet.

On Tuesday 5th February, a group of students from the Eco-Schools Committee went out in town to go on a “saving the environment” quest. Their mission: Go in fruit and vegetable stores and deliver mesh bags and posters to the owner and the customers.

This article focuses on the animals that we are in danger of loosing. Some of these animals are endemic i.e. they can only be found on the Maltese Islands and nowhere else in the world. We should take care of these animals.
