Unfortunately we often make such unpleasant encounters while strolling in the countryside. A good deed is that of disposing of such waste which is harmful to the environment apart from being an eyesore. A better deed would be that of educating people living in our community to take care of our natural environment.

Due to the irresponsible actions of a few individuals living in our community, our natural environment risks being uglified and contaminated with non-biodegradable waste and man-made disposed products. It is a pity considering that our community provides a free service that allows bulky refuse to be disposed of appropriately.

International research shows that in 2018 2.5% of global CO2 emissions were from aviation. From 2013-2018 CO2 emissions from aviation increased by 32% and this can triple due to post Covid travel boom. For example, a return flight London to New York emits 1,100kg of CO2 per passenger. Lower CO2 emissions should be the target and the use of SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel) instead of fossil fuel is highly encouraged. SAF is produced from used cooking oil and household forestry waste. Further more, improved aircraft & engine design and making passengers more environmental conscious would also help to attain greener flights. This image illustrates one of those eyesores which we occasionally encounter during our walks in the countryside. This still happens despite the continuous awareness and educational campaigns against such abuses. “Does Nature deserve this?” will be participating in this year’s YRE competition.

The undervalued price of arable land given to the God of Money for the sake of a few rich persons. When will mankind learn the land which can be farmed and give produce is priceless compared to the concrete blocks which are polluting the air we breathe? Will it be when it is too late and man will have to scavenge for food and only possible to breath ‘clean’ air from artificial sources?

Photos show contrastic realities of wildlife living in their natural habitat with a growing concern that these must adapt to new surroundings which are often overwhelmed with human progress and urban sprawl. Photo 1 Snail – “Let me roam as free as can be!” In this picture, the snail is seen happily wandering on leaves in its natural habitat which is still untouched by human beings. Photo 2 Dragonfly – “I prefer a pond or stream rather than this cold piece of steel!” Here, the dragonfly is seen in a different habitat than the one it is used to. Photo 3 Bee “Let me be, wild and free!” The wasp is admired in its natural habitat. Photo 4 Building The spreading of urban developments destroying wildlife habitats.
Recycling

My project is about my experience on recycling. I have been recycling for a long time now and today I have noticed that there is a lot of garbage and waste all on the floor, especially that there are little animals that can die with all the plastic being thrown on the floor. These animals can be snails, caterpillars, and plenty of more animals that we should take care of. We should take care if the environment around us and not fill it with garbage like we are doing.

In the aftermath of the stormy weather we had last month, the sea threw back at us what we ourselves had once thrown in the sea, leaving a terrible sight in its wake.

It’s amazing how many so-called educated people think that if something is out of their home then it’s ok to leave it lying around dirtying the area. Nowadays it is so easy to get rid of our trash – simply by making a phone call and the bulky refuse come to collect it for free.
