The Mediterranean Sea is, sadly, one of the most polluted seas in the world. For decades it has been a dump yard for sewage and waste .Reports state that over 50% of the water in the Mediterranean Sea is untreated. There is an in-crease in chemical nutrients and these results in excessive plant growth and therefore lack of oxygen for the plants.
