During a Clean Up activity held earlier this March, the St Edward’s College, Malta Eko-Skola Committee supervised by their teachers Ms.Samantha Abela, Mr.Daniel Caruana Smith and with the help of Ms.Ghislaine Calleja from #GetTrashedMalta they encountered a very peculiar sight. A skink was trapped into a plastic water bottle. A day prior to the clean up it had rained and this discarded water bottle got filled with some water. This poor skink ventured inside it to drink the water and got trapped. By the time the boys found it, the skink was barely moving as it was tired from hours of struggling. The boys managed to help her slither out of the bottle and release it. The skink was quite surprised and happy to be out in the open again. It looked back at the boys a few seconds, perched on a rock, before running away. Rubbish, when improperly disposed

As part of the YRE Litter Less Campaign San Gorg Preca Secondary School EkoSkola Committee came up with this initiative to produce shopping bags from old to-be-thrown away t-shirts. This was all possible thanks to the help of various teachers and LSAs too who participated in the in-house workshop with our students and also, at the Day Care Centre in Hamrun. Thus, the committee’s campaign was widespread to reach the community too.
